well lets just say different things make you happy. Like not getting peed on is a happy moment. Getting to sleep for aleast 4 hours in a row becomes a happy moment Not getting spit up on more than 4 times aday becomes a happy moment. Oh and those little babbles and smiles and laughs make all the hard times worth it and for a whole moment the world seems right.

A child cannot take away problems in your life--But having a child and opening up yourself to loving a child and receiving the love of a child is very healing, rewarding, inspiring and awesome...You can become transformed through love..so if by having a child, you allow yourself to open up to the power of love--yes--in some ways--in many ways--you can become happier--That said--reality in the outside world will still exist--but if your attitude is different--if you are energized with love, yes--life becomes different...But--you have to be able to cope with the realities of having a child and deal with all the cleaning, crying, feeding etc...if you focus on the good times though--it is absolutely worth it...

My husband and I were very happy and content to spend our lives together as I was told I would never have children - SURPRISE - got pregnant at 35 years old, my son is 8 months now... can be frustrating at times but it's a love like no other - and I've never been happier!

No. Not immediately. You love the baby in a unique way that you are completely unfamiliar with and can be overwhelming. He is a stranger and yet so bonded. Your body is stressed out due to being pregnant, labor and lack of sleep. Your hormones are beyond out of whack. Your friends and family members may be overwhelming you and disappointing you all at the same time.
I was surprised by my lack of jubilation. Baby is here!! YEAH!! That is how I felt, but my body didn't always agree. It is all manageable. Reach out when you need help.
Sleep when baby sleeps. Breastfeed. Take care of yourself.

My baby actually saved my life... I was fresh out of the military after a traumatic event and was drinking all the time. I basically felt empty all the time and drank to escape my current reality. I found out I was six weeks preggo, quit drinking, married my honey, and have the most beautiful baby boy to brag about ever. He is my world and I know you hear about the mother/baby bond, but you'll never truly experience it or understand, until you have your own (or adopt in some cases)...the feeling is pure bliss!

Yes, being a parent has changed me in a positive way. Not that I was really bad to begin with. For one it motivated me to be a better person, it made me less selfish and more giving (I was kind of spoiled), and I had an overwhelming feeling of love and protection for my baby. I LOVE being a mommy!! I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Nope. Still the same. I have always been a happy upbeat person. Just tired all the time. With none or very little me time. But, I watch less tv and watch and play more with my son. And my patience is building as well.

Yes. Especially because he was a little angel and has been (almost) the perfect child since the day he was born. Not a lot of crying, very independent and helpful, I guess I was lucky with my first one, hopefully this one will be just as great.

Definitely. There is nothing more challenging or rewarding than being a parent. Children bring huge changes to your life, but the joys are worth every change.
