I think there is nothing you can do about it, as he is in his adolesence. when he will get older, he will be more calm i guess.

Teach him yoga, meditation. Make it a family event.
Switch off TV. Make reading a habit. Again, make this a family event.
Don't use too much sugar in your diet.
Everything in moderation, of course - football is a good diversion. It is all a phase. He will get over it. Give him time.

He is not studying because he has not understood what he is studying. You need to help him. Then he will develop an interest in what he is learning.

If the base is not strong, what he builds on it is weak. Therefore, he loses interest. Then studying gets harder. Get to the basics. Patience is the key. You have to be his mentor.

Catnip tea and chamomile tea both have a calming effect on the nerves. I had the same problem when I was young. I spent most of my life with a nervous energy. I didn't find an answer till I was forty years old.

He may not be able to control this on his own. You may want to seek medical help. He may have ADHD which is Attention Deficint Hyperactivity Disorder. People which this disorder have a hard time "controlling their behavior and/or paying attention." I read that some of the symptoms include inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. This disorder does have medicine that it can be treated with. You can google the name to get more information or follow the link where I received the quick definition which includes its symptoms. If you do choose to google it, make sure the sources are reliable! Good luck!

Well--he is an adolescent so it'll be tough--Maybe give him a chance to slow down--take him out to some nature spots--go campng or someting and have some quiet time--he may be wrapped up in school and social and sporting activities--and tv--too much tv--if you are religious--then spiritual instruction would be good--something to teach him how to slow down, breathe and relax in this hectic world...But my first bet would be nature--some natural activity--like camping and away from tv, music etc..where he can slow down and just BE... You can also get him a counselor...
