You can avoid many of the extra costs. The only port you're going to visit is Ensenada. If you go into town, share a cab with others. Then just walk around, rather than take an "excursion." You can always research the area first (guide books, including the Auto Club's guidebook, which is free if you're a member). Just make sure you keep tabs on when you need to return to the ship and don't be late. The Capers newsletter will have this info, so take it with you.

Alcoholic beverages aren't included. So if you like booze, check out the Captain's Reception, which will have free watered down drinks. Sometimes there's a drink of the day special, too.

If you have a decent camera, you can avoid buying the pricey photos the ship sells. Just have someone take a photo of the two of you every so often.

Figure that tips will cost about ten dollars a day per person. Don't remove the tips as that penalizes crew members.

Here's another tip: you'll hear pitches to buy from "approved stores." These stores give the cruiselines kickbacks for the plug. Go a little farther and you'll find the same souvenirs for less.

I'm sorry but I am not familiar with the Princess "Paradise" cruise ship. In any event, for a 3 night cruise, you will need approximately $75.00 for tips to staff for both of you. If you drink liquor, expect to pay approx. $8.00 per drink on the ship. Gambling money is up to you. There are shops on board each ship and depending on your itinerary they may be duty free but that doesn't mean cheap!! Most of the time you can buy the same things at home for less money. You can also save money by web surfing the shore excursion sites before you go on your trip and booking independently but remember--you have to keep track of the time and make sure you are back on board before the ship sails. The ship is not responsible for passengers who don't take ship operated tours. For a 3 day trip most people expect to spend about $100.00 -$200.00 on souveniers but shop around on the islands and don't buy in the stands or stalls on the pier. They charge top dollar for everything you can get in the towns themselves for half the price. Good luck and have a great time.

It really depends on what excursions you want to take and if you want to drink alcohol. Excurions cost anywhere from $50-$100 person and alcoholic beverages cost about $4 to $8 depending on what you order.

You will need to pay gratuities to your cabin attendent, waiter, and asst. waiter as well. The cruiseline should give you the tipping guidelines.
