Start calling vets and explain the situation. You may be able to find one that will take her for free and either care for her or put her down. Call other humane soceities in the area as well. She is suffereing, you have to do something. Try selling something to get the money. Where is your boyfriend in all this??

You first need to talk to your bfriend FIRST. You don't own the dog so it's not up to you legally. After that, I would take her to the vet and explain the situation, they will be able to work out something with you. I have never heard of a humane society charging that much for euthanasia. The research I did they did it for free or little money. Most I found was $30. Call somewhere else like animal control.

Call every vet/clinic in your area and tell them the situation. I can't believe anybody would charge so much to put an animal to sleep. Tell your boyfriend, have him give you the money as it is his dog. She's 14 and suffering. There is no excuse, there will be a vet somewhere that will be willing to help. Do the right thing and ease her suffering HUMANELY, by having a vet put her to sleep.

Take her to the damn vet! Call around the vets, and see which one will let you pay them little by little, and pay later. Usually all you have to pay is a small fee when you go in. Maybe 20 bucks. They'll look at the dog, and figure out what needs to be done.

You can't sit there and watch that poor dog suffer!! I have no money, one car, 5 people living in my house, with 6 animals to take care of. We barely have enough money to pay our bills, let alone take care of these animals. But we do because if we don't, they will wind up being killed.

If you can't do anything with the dog, then you should give it back to your friend, or give it up to the animal control. To sit there and let that dog suffer is actually a crime, and you could go to jail and pay a fine. Which if you can't pay the fine, then you go to jail for that too. So it's either a long time in prison, or pay 100 bucks for the dog. What's it gonna be?

Most vets will put you on a payment plan when things like this happen. Call around your local vets (or if you have a vet call them) Explain whats going on and tell them that you cant afford a vet bill, and see if they can put you on a payment plan. Some places will have you give them some money then but not alot.

Take her to a regular vet then, they don't charge but maybe $40-$60 (depending on the size of the dog)

Take her to the Humane Society. They cannot FORCE you to pay if you cannot, and they won't turn her away in her condition.

When you surrender an animal to the humane society for euthanization, they give you an infromation pamplet. Inside it says that when you turn over responsibility/ownership to them, they do not GUARANTEE they will euthanize the animal. If there is anything they can do to save the animal & adopt it out, they will (Cost allowing, that is).

Granted, if she is cured you nor your boyfriend will have her any more, but don't you think it's better to surrender her to someone who MIGHT be able to help her than to watch her die?

Jest take her to the vet and have her put down have them bill you and do the best you can to pay it when you can don't make the dog suffer or you will suffer in the end also.

That's really unfortunate. The poor old dog really should be put out of its suffering.

Just call your vet and explain the situation. Even if they refuse to do it without euthanization fees, they might be able to recommend another way.

Can you not call your best friend, I can only imagine how you must feel. I know most vets will give you a payment plan, I know that is probably not what you want to hear, let us know where you live (city, state and country) and maybe someone near you will be able to help.
