how many people are employed by the railway industry in the UK?

I work for the rail industry, but wandered how many other people are employed ( this includes the Train Operating Companies, Freight Operating Companies, Network Rail and other companies that are linked)

It's difficult to estimate in such a fragmented industry, but Network Rail employs 31 000 people.
