Religion, in short, is man's attempt to reach G-d, through man's means (works) which is essentially where Cain fell short. Jesus Christ came so that man could have a relationship with G-d, by the virtue of Christ's death on the cross which atones for our sins, as long as we accept that gift of eternal life by receiving the life of Christ into our lives.
