Dehydration is a big part of it. Too much alcohol also plays havoc with your blood sugar, so you experience symptoms associated with both elevated blood sugar and then a drop in blood sugar.

Alcohol. When you drink your body is working overtime to try and neutralize your blood again. Because it's doing this it doesn't concentrate on solely functioning, like not being able to sustain proper liquids. So when you get a hangover it's basically because you're really dehydrated and you're not functioning as well as you usually do.
Always remember, if you have a hangover, you still have alcohol in your system, more than you'd think, it's not a good idea to drive until you are 100% sober.

Not exactly sure, but I think it's from your body becoming dehydrated. Alcohol causes dehydration and when the body does not get enough water it has to use what it has. This causes all the groggy, sick feelings of a hangover.

In my experiance it is quality not quantity that makes a difference. First make sure that you drink plenty of water before during and after your party time. Also make sure you started drinking on a full stomach. Finally, do not drink to the point where you puke or black out, that is too much. Also, just in case your question is one those easy ones, Drinking too much alcohol causes a hangover.

Diluted alcohol also plays a big part. I heard that if you drink 100 proof, yes you will get drunk, but no hangover.

when you drink booze it dehydrates the body which in turn narrows the blood vessels thats why you get the headache, the upset tummy is caused by the toxins in the booze and a large part of that is the alchohol content % proof, depends what you drink you will sometimes feel sick but no headache and vise versa.

Drinking too much alcohol causes your body to dehydrate. Your liver is trying to process this toxic substance (alcohol) and until it does you will continue to feel sickly.
