How do I take down a beer fast when I'm bonging it or shotgunning it? It seems to take forever and everyone somehow does it faster than I can. I am opening up my throat and taking huge gulps, but it doesn't seem to help (I end up burping really bad because of all the trapped air). Is there something I'm missing?

Yes. The thing you are doing wrong is gulping. The best way to do it is just shoot it down your throat without swallowing. It sounds weird if you haven't done it. But that is how everybody is drinking it faster. Technically, they aren't driking it but that is where "shotgunning" a beer comes from. Try a beer bong to help you learn how to do it.

You and me have the same problem. Every time I drink anything I have to hold it in my mouth before swallowing it. It's more of a reflex than a habit. So I can't really down drinks like everyone either. I have tried to open my throat and all of that but I end up getting the drink up my nose. Try it with a bottle of water and maybe after practicing you'll be able to do it.

Dont take gulps, let the beer slide down your throat.(you need to keep your gag reflex in check)

no, if beer bongs were supposed to be easy and classy without a big burp they'd call them whimp drinks...not beer bongs!
