Transferable hours are those classes that you have taken already and will go towards your degree at the new school. These are usually classes you have received a C in or better that are numbered over 101 but each school has the discression on what is transfered and what is not.

It varies by which college you are coming from - and which one you are going to. There is no CORRECT standard answer.

Your councilor probably does not know the answer. He/she has asked someone else. Probably your counselor contacted the university you want to go to, and asked them which classes from your 2-year college will they accept.

DO NOT CONFRONT your consulars and pi** them off. The university will eventually get back in touch with the counselor and ask questions about the classes you have taken there before giving a final answer.

These days, some 2 years colleges have written agreements with some universities to transfer their classes. This is what my daughter checked on before enrolling at John Tyler Community College in Richmond, Virginia - after 2 years she transfer to James Madison University and they accepted all of her classes.

But years ago, when I attended Bluefield State College in West Virginia and tried to transfer to the University of Virginia or Virginia Tech - they would only transfer my English classes. I had been screwed.

Some universities do not like to accept transferred classes - they feel like it diminishes their reputation.

If the university you want to go to will not agree to transfer your classes, check with another university - go ahead and write them and provide a transcript from your current college.

Transferable hrs are any course that you have taken at a college, that is considered a college level course. Most colleges consider these to be courses numbered over 101.

it depends on the school you're going to and the school you are transferring from. email someone in the registrar's office at the school you are transferring to to see what they consider transferable.
