The whole idea behind adobe acrobat is to keep people from modifying the original document unless they are the creator. The newer versions of acrobat reader allow you to modify pre-selected fields. I have seen pdf composers/editors, you can try that. If you have text-bridge software, you can scan the original document into your word processor as an rtf file and doctor it up to your heart's content.

Try getting adobe acrobat professional. If the PDF file is not protected then editing it is very simple. By the way adobe professional also creates PDF documents.
The catch is that acrobat professional not free.

If you have Acrobat Reader then you can't modify it. You would need a PDF editor. do a simple search to find PDF editors.

If you didn't create it, chances are you can't alter it. Most PDF are created with a lock on them that only allows the creator to modify them.

If you have Acrobat, then you should be able to go to View - Toolbars - Advanced Editing

And then use those tools to modify the type or markup comments

The original creator of the pdf file has to have allowed editing.
If it is locked then there is nothing you can do.

There are two Adobe Acrobats, one is a reader, and the other is an editor.

You have the reader (Free), and you need to get the editor (Not-Free).
