Help!. I haven't had but 2 or 3 hours sleep in the last 3 days. I feel like I'm on meth and I don;t know why. I have noticed a mild cold (sore throat, knotted stomach, slight runs) but nothing seroius. Is there some sort of cold or flu that causes restlessness? I am jittery all night long. I don;t drink caffeine before I go to bed and never usually have problems sleeping. Last night I took a dose of Nyquil and 3 tylenol PM's and still nothing.

Are you taking anything else for the cold or the stomach problems?

I'm not sure, but look on the Nyquil bottle. It could say that it can cause marked drowsiness, or excitability. The excitability happens mainly in children, but it can happen in adults under some circumstances.

Cut out all caffienne today, drink a cup of chamomile or "sleepytime" tea tonight (celestial seasonings has a "sleepytime extra" with valarian... works nicely), take a tylanol pm or a dose of nyquil, then allow your mind and body to just kind of wind down. Turn off the tv. Read a book or magazine. Put some calming music/white noise sounds on. Basically, just try to prepare your mind.

You can try to even your breathing, too, or try other relaxation techniques. Close your eyes, get comfortable, and focus on slowing down your breathing. If you're able, breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

If nothing works, talk to your doctor.

It may not have to do with anything physical. Are you anxious about something? Sounds like symptoms that stress and anxiery can cause.
