Seriously! And I do not wish to offend anyone!
Reason! Over the last 2000 or so years there have been Kings, Queens, Pope's, Arch Bishops! Along with many others over the Centuries that have change religious values to meet certain the needs; of certain criteria, for certain generations! So much so that the Bible, it's meaning, and values, a virtually not recognisable!
For example!
Psalms included in the Bible written by various authors more akin to modern times, rather than 2000 years ago!
How in some parishes there are Homosexual Clergy (No Offence)
yet in the Bible it clearly states that this is a NO NO!
On the other hand reports today suggest Homo sexuals should not have access to certain religious establishments! Including Christian place! So hypocrisy is definately going on here! Either No No or Go Go! Which one!
Love Thy Nieghbour! Erm Should that not be bomb thy nieghbour! You know where I am going with this!
So much to go on guys n gals!
Peace!

No offense to you either GAZZA but here is what I see is really the problem here.
God gave us the Commandments as he is OUR HEAVENLY FATHER.
Man was given free will to use as they see fit even if it is against his rules, as most kids will do.
And as most kids they ALWAYS FEEL that their parents rules are UNFAIR AND OUT OF DATE. The first part of the 10 Commandments was dealing with worshiping God and the second half dealt with the secular world. We still NEED them in this day and age, as there has been so much REBELLION against the rules over the ages, besides just look around you and you will see so many disobeying them. I think MAYBE if we started following them more there would be LESS PROBLEMS.
Instead of trying to change them and lower the STANDARDS THAT HE HAS, known as DUMBING DOWN, like I have seen so much of in my life, why don't we try to LIVE UP TO THEM.
This might be a little off but I think it still relates.
Everybody crying about everything is UNFAIR. My thoughts have been is if people want everything to be FAIR AND EQUAL then WHY DON'T WE JUST POKE OUR EYES OUT, PLUG OUR EARS PERMANENTLY WITH SOMETHING, BREAK OUR ARMS AND LEGS SO WE CAN'T USE THEM, AND WE CAN'T FORGET TO DO A LOBOTOMY ON EVERYONE THEN EVERYTHING WILL BE EQUAL.
We will be EQUAL to BLIND, DEAF, QUADRIPLEGICS AND MENTALLY CHALLENGED PEOPLE.
NOW DO PEOPLE REALLY WANT TO TALK ABOUT EQUALITY?
Oh and why don't we just DO AWAY WITH ALL LAWS, THEN EVERYBODY CAN BE TOTALLY FREE TO DO AS THEY WANT.

You're misslead in thinking that the Bible itself has changed to meet the needs of man. It hasnt. There are many extremely old Bible texts still available for you to read and compare for yourself if they have been as drastically changed as you claim. Really, you could even read them off the web, or if you dont trust the web, try a university Library. If the writings said 5000 years ago that homosexuality was acceptable, the Bible would still say it is. Within the various religions, MAN changes the MEANING of the words, but not the words themselves. One man believes one thing, another believes another yet they are reading the SAME book. The Bible hasnt changed, only the minds of man has.

Considering all Ten Commandments are pretty much common sense for most rational people anyway, why would they need to be upbdated?
I'm getting the impression, from your comments, that you haven't acutally read a Bible. You're actually bringing up instances of people claiming to be Christian but not acting the way scripture clearly instructs. That doesn't mean that they're right. It means that they got it wrong.
There is no specific place where homosexuals are not allowed to be clergy. There's not a ton of stuff in the Bible that even speaks about clergy.
You should read it before you form hypothesis about it.

Yup, about the size of it from the Old Testament in a Christian Bible. Although a Christian by faith, I am not a great beleiver in some bloke building a boat to house every species of critter either. Oh, am I banished because I covet my neighbours oxen ? Moses was probably a fine chap, so upon leading his followers out of slavery, thought a set of rules would be a good idea. Much like Gordon Brown. Er, Jesus hadn't arrived on the scene to put Moses right. Bob

The ten commandments are not formulated by committee. They are the revelation of a holy God that provides a standard for society.
God does not change, His values do not change.
We should not try to limit His grace.
Live life as if there are an infinite tomorrows. [and we are responsible]

The Ten Commandments are God's perfect laws. They must not and cannot be changed. The confusion you see today is caused by people not keeping God's law.
