If his unit hasn't been to Iraq and its a combat unit that isn't in the middle of another commitment such as Kosovo, Sinai, or Afghanistan or isn't reforming, its a big possibility.
If you're B/F is joining the Guard, he knows what he's getting into. He's a big boy. Let him go if he wants.

Pretty good chance. If he's lucky, he'll be in a support role. Unless he's a gung-ho type and wants to see some action. In that case, he'll probably get what he wants in one form or another.
