Why do people believe that all these events happened. Even though there are many different stories of the same event but thigns are completely different. Is it so they have something to believe in? There is more evidence of "The Big Bang" and Evolution, so why do they insist the Bible is correct? Is it because it is old?

Please don't answer saying "You don't believe blah blah you will burn blah blah."

People are incredibly gullible.
If I tell someone that there's a flying red monkey in my closet that will perform Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" if you knock twice on its head, would you believe me? No. At the very most, you'd ask me to provide you with proof. You'd want to see the monkey.
But I just knock on my closet door twice and "Bohemian Rhapsody" starts playing. Isn't that enough proof?

If I tell someone that I have a book that contains the explanation of the world that includes a talking snake, a tree, a burning bush, a flood that covered the entire earth, unicorns, satyrs, dragons, mass killings, and intolerance towards those who will not believe anything in said book, they would believe me, right?
Of course not.

The Bible is not "historically accurate". If it's "inspired by God", then God is a pathetic author. Lots of things are inspired by deities... have you ever seen the Acropolis? Does that mean it's built by Zeus?

People believe in the Bible because they refuse to think critically about it... the book itself condemns them for doing so. It's absurd.

Many of the events did occur. Most were passed down by oral tradition until after the Babylonian exile. Then the oral traditions were compiled and the stories which evolved* differently among different tribes were reconciled in one collection of writings. This collection, was not finalized until about 150 B.C. as the Jewish Bible and later recompiled as the Old Testament. There are numerous accounts of many events in the Bible from other sources -- usually the other side -- and they often spin the events differently.

The only reason I can see that people believe anything that is in the bible or taught in religion is a combination of fear of suffering if they do not and the hope of rewards for believing crap no saine person would!

These ideas come from the human imagination since there has never been a single point when this God did anything to prove he actually exists!

Yes, there are different stories for the same events, however they are close to the same. There is a lot of proof for these things as well. Such as Jesus. There was not proof that he is the son of God, but there is proof that he did exsist. Maybe having hope in things like this is what helps people to stay sane and live their crazy lives without giving up. Not only for being able to have hope in something, but for the moralls it trys to teach us and our children. I was raised in a christian home. I am now passing the same on to my kids. I do not make them believe --I just tell them what I think and I let them choose their own beliefs. Even though, I have questioned the bible too, I have always believed that it is better to be safe then sorry.

I think that people who don't believe in the bible like to complicate things. I think that people who believe in the bible do so because of personal experiences that led them to the good book and God's word. I, personally, used to think it was all non-sense. "A bunch of stories made up by men who were trying to explain the unexplainable." I thought that scientists were the more "intelligent" and "logical" ones... and that their 'evidence' was better than that provided in 'words or stories in the bible' that seemed idiotic and far too simple. Now I know better. Had some personal experiences that opened my eyes. That's why I believe.

I read a book called "The Signature of God" by Grant Jeffrey which provided scientific, historical, geographical and archaeological evidence that the bible is 100% accurate. It also showed incredible mathematical codes in the bible that cannot be produced by man or computer. After reading this book I had no other choice but to believe.

I could also go on and on about how it is still the #1 best seller after all these years and attempts to destory it and .....

Peace :-)

your making many inaccurate assumptions.. i would like to answer your question but i dont even know where to begin. First you have to at least accept that there may not be as much evidence supporting "the big bang" as you would have people believe from your question. Second the bible doesnt necessarly omit or disprove evolution or the big bang..

so whats the problem your having...?

Next time try quoteing text from the bible to prove your point

Two words: FAITH and FAMILY.

Most of the time, people will believe whatever they are raised to believe. Racists, Vegetarians, Christians...If you're parents taught you that the Bible is law, then more and likely you'll be more inclined to stick with that religion.

Also, many people just need a faith to hold onto. Some folks NEED to believe in certain things just so everyday life makes sense.

'Jinenglish' says 'Whatever exists today, exists by the grace of God'-lol Well then, non-believers and Satan exist 'by the grace of God'. So, does that mean he really doesn't hate evil?
To answer the question, I think it's b/c it keeps being passed down and people are so brainwashed by it by the time they get older, they can't understand anything but. Some non-believing people can't even let go of the idea of a singular deity!

Do u know the statistical probabilty of the Big Bang. It is more probable for a tornado to go through a junk yard and form a seven forty seven.

Lots of Historical and Archelogical events in the Bible have been found.
