Apparently yes and the same goes for potatoes, boil for 5-7 mins before roasting

They where Delicious!

Parsnips are not that hardy like some of the other root vegetables like carrots or ruttebegas. They will roast just fine in the oven if you slice them or cut them to a medium or small dice. You can parboil them, but I would only do it for about 5 minutes, or you will get probably end up with mush.

Its apersonal choice and really depends on how much time you have. Parboiling cuts roasting time and makes the whole cooking time much shorter. Roasting from raw on the other hand preserves more of the nutrients which are lost when parboiling and the flavour is better too. Of course, it takes a bit longer but all good things come to those who wait.....

no definatly not that takes the flavour out of them no no no! best is to roast them in goose fat for about 30 mins get the goose fat in a baking tray put in oven till the fat starts to smoke (only a little though dont burn the kitchen down) then pop the parsnips in add some roasties in to fantastic!

no its really not necessary. The end product is no better if you do, unlike potatoes. They still go nice and crispy roasting from raw. As others have suggested they're particularly nice if drizzled with a little honey and well seasoned.
