It isn't "normal" for anybody to be an alcoholic. Even still 10% of the population is. It is a genetically inherited disease that strikes people without regard to wealth, education or social standing. If a 15 year old who is predisposed to the disease drinks enough alcohol, he or she will be incapable of quitting by him/her self. Teenagers usually incorporate drugs into their addiction, exacerbating the problem and making recovery more difficult. Good luck to you.

No there's nothing normal about that at all.Do the child a favor and call child protection and let them know what's going on.Alcoholics are trying to deal with something that they can not handle.Get help and you may save their life...

from my own experience, My Mom started drinking when she was 14-very unhappy at home and did'nt stop until she almost killed herself. So amny factors involved-best to try and get help now-aa or alanon are good groups to check out

No usually. But it depends. If his/her parents are alcohol addicts or if he accompanies his father to the pub or if he/she grows up alongside his mother (an only parent) who may be an alcohol addict, then yes, unfortunately the child can become an alcohol addict himself/herself.

it's not "normal", but not unusual. sad but true kids, especially with alcoholic parents are predisposed to being alcoholics themselves. get them help talk to a counselor.
