So as a resolution for the new year, I decided to lose weight/become healthier. I usually stay away from this kind of resolution because it usually doesn't work. Over the past year and a half I think i gained somewhere around 30-40lbs. I don't really know how because I didn't change my eating habits or anything. Anyways.. I want to at least get back to my original weight, because I was near a healthy weight for body type. I started college last August and it's causing me to gain more weight because I work during the day and I go to class at night with little breaks for snacks. So I end up binge eating at 10pm or later and then falling asleep. I think I really wanted to ask if anyone knew any really good eating and exercising tips. My main problem is motivation because I'm tired most of the time so I just don't exercise. I think it may be what I'm eating too because I feel sluggish a lot of the time even if I've slept 8+ hours. So any kind of advice to get me started would be welcomed.

Start slow, choose either exercise or diet. Your body will not know what is going on if you drastically cut calories and start working out burning more calories. If you are not exercising at all now, anything, even 15 minute walks is better than nothing. I NEVER went to the gym, it smelled and annoyed me, this is why I was never able to stick with it. I started walking and then doing DVD's at home, The Firm really works. If you are doing it in your own living room, you are not as self-concious and more likely to do it. When you get home, do not plop down on the couch, change into some workout clothes and tell yourself that you will do it for at least 10 minutes, when the 10 minutes are up you probably will not be as tired and will finish the workout. Good for you for trying!! After you have worked out on a semi regular basis for 6 weeks, then look into cutting calories. You can do it!!!!

Try eating six small meals a day. Add plenty of salad and fruits to your diet. If you're hungry, have a fruit or some popcorn.... Have your meal at the same time everyday so your body gets used to the routine. This way you can avoid hunger at the wrong time! Brisk walking for 20 minutes (to begin with, then up to 45 minutes) will show results within a month. A balanced diet and any form of exercise works like magic!

The best thing to do is - when you feel hungry replace that thought with the fact that you might be thirsty, you body often fools you. If you want to lose weight really badly then you must have will power. If you are thinking about giving in just visualise what you will ook like once you have lost weight, that should be enough to put you off.

Hope this helps

Set your alarm so that you get 7 hours of sleep. Same time every night. Your body will thank you. Get out of the house. No eating after 6 or 7 pm. Substitute water in place of soda.
