It's not really Christians, it Americans in general that think like that. It's just that a lot of Americans also so happen to be Chrstians. Also, even though most Muslim women would still cover their heads if they had a choice, this is usually an enforced law in some muslim countries and it is looked as a big deal simply because it looks as though they are being forced to do something. Nuns, on the other hand, chose to become nuns. Nobody is born, taught, and raised to be a nun, this is a choice. So, nuns covering their heads appears to be more voluntary than muslim women doing so.

This is not an opinion exclusively held by Christians. Many people, even Muslims, wonder why Muslim women cover themselves. The Quran tells them to do so, so that others will know they are Muslims.
I personally have no problem with women freely wearing a hijab, and I am a Christian. Many do it as a symbol for people to know that they are Muslims and that they are of good moral character for following the Quran.
And, I see no connection between nuns covering themselves and Muslim women wearing hijabs. First, concept of a nun is from Catholicism, not all of Christianity. And second, there is nothing Biblically commanding anyone to be a nun or to cover themselves, they do that for non-Biblical reasons.
Some people (not just Christians), however, feel that Muslim women cover themselves because of sexist reasons existing within their communities and feel it is unfair for patriarchal societies to force that upon them.

Not all Christians have nuns, only Catholics do, but most Christians dont get upset that a nun wears a habit however its not her entire body covered and its not every woman that does. Many Christian churches still have the women wear a scarf on their head during church, we dont get upset about that but we tend to feel sorry for Muslim women when they cover their entire body as well as their face.
I know Islam says its so men will not lust after the woman, but if its because men do wrong, why make the woman sweat in the heat and be uncomfortable? Cover them men's eyes or something if they're the ones with the lust problem.

I don't know many Christians that take a lot of offense at it, but many secular (non-religious) people seem to do so. I think it has to do with the perception of female submission and domination. Western people pride themselves on haveing "free-thinking" societys, and "independent" women. Anything that doesn't conform to that is considered backward, ignorant, male-chauvinism, and just plain wrong. So much for liberal thought!
Nuns are usually shrugged off as "religious nuts", or ignored completely, especially by the media. They also live a life of religious submission, and therefore are not understood.

I think that the issue is choice. The nuns have decided to cover their heads, or decided that was okay with them when the entered their chosen life.
Muslim women are forced by their society to cover their heads.

Apples and oranges. I'm not sure that it's required of nuns anymore, but that's beside the point. Nuns live outside of society for the most part. They have COMPLETELY dedicated their lives to their god.
And for another I don't think they do it for quite the same reasons, although I could be wrong about that.

The only reason I can think of is that nuns choose to be nuns, but Muslim women don't choose to be women. Nuns don't get stoned to death for not wearing their wimples, either.

I don't see it as a big deal. There are other Christian faiths that do this to. If this is what you believe, then you should do it.
