Mixed signals are "I care for you, BUT..."

Usually it is because they don't want to person to want them anymore, but have a hard time being straight with them and many times, justly so. To send a mixed message would be to say "I want us just to be friends" then proceed to call the other party daily and get mad if the other party was seen transacting with a person of the opposite sex..that would be a good example of giving a "mixed signal".

If is is over, then it is over; if you have been physically intimate, more times than not, that means the best thing to do is to end all contact with each other as it may be the only way to avoid "mixed signal".

Sometimes it means they are confused themselves. Like if a person wants to have sex with you but they also want to hold off until later, they might be worried about sending "mixed signals", for instance by making out with you while saying they need to go home to get up early the next day. Just as an example.

Other times it might mean they want to tell you something that will be hard to hear - like that they want to break up with you - but they can't quite bring themselves to do it, so they keep being nice instead.

But I think the first guess is right most of the time - the person is mixed up about what they want to do and they're worried that you can tell, or that their behavior is kind of nutty because of it, so they feel self-conscious.

They want to make it clear what their intentions are with you.
This usually means someone likes you as a friend and nothing more, so they avoid certian behavior as to not send 'mixed signals' to you.

It means they're not attracted to you and don't want to give you false hope. I give that person far greater credit than one who does send mixed signals.

It means that they never had those nasty mixed frozen vegetables as a child and that they can not relate to even the simplest social situations in everyday life.

Its ironic that it would be confusing. Typically its used in dating, meaning the person doesnt want to lead the other person on. In other words, they arent that into them- might be they think they are nice. Friends etc. But the spark isnt there.

It means he/she doesn't wan you to think they are saying one thing an meaning another. Example;
If they just like you as a friend and were friendly towards you they would not want you to think this means they are in love with you or wish to date you etc. It just means they are friendly.

It's like this: a girl shows up for a date wearing a sexy, cleavage baring dress but won't let you touch her. Ever.

What that says to me is" I'm not interested enough in you to spend any more time on you". Time to move on from there!

I don;t want you to think I want a long term commitment, when all I really want is no-strings-attached-sex.
