My cat needs Prozac. I wish I could leave my door open, but my cat will climb and play half the night. My cat always has fresh water/food. Help....He is driving me nuts and I don't want to have to lock him in a downstairs bathroom all night.

Have you tried playing with it a lot, before you go to bed. To poop him out? If that doesn't work I'm not sure what else you can do. He will get better as he gets older though.

Is he fixed? If not, then there's probly a female outside that is in heat, and he's trying to get to her. That was the problem with my cat. She would cry forever at nite, and always during the day.

Is that when the sun comes up? Maybe he's trying to wake the rest of the fmily up to start the day. I had an animal who did that. Sort of like a rooster, but like that alarm clock where the snooze button doesn't work, and you have to manually shut it off.

That's the mornig for him, and males are the type where, once thye get up, then it's time for the rest of the house to get up. Invest in a squirt bottle. Once he starts, open the door and squirt the hell out of him. Keep doing it until he stops waking you up. He won't like the water, so he'll eventually get it.

Depinding on how irritated you are by your tabby I have a few answers that might be helpful.
1. Put her in a pillowcase and throw her in some closet that isnt near your room until morning.
2. Put her on a leash, I know its a cat but youve got to let the p u s s y know who the boss is. This applies to women too.
3. Remove cats vocal chords, take your cat the the vet and they will perform this procedure if you have the money.
4. Last resort--Shotgun blast to the face.

5. Listen lifes to short to worry about making a damn cat happy. Worry about your sleep more. Get you some Oscars, that would be the best bet of all. I guarantee it. Get them a fifty five gallon tank to go with it.

You will be pleased.

find out what he wants. does the cat go outside? if so, get up, let it outside and go back to bed. This is all part of being a pet owner. I have 2 dogs that get up between 6-8 every morning to go out, then we go back to bed for another 2-3 hours, then back to bed.

When i'm in school and have to leave my house at a certain time, they get on that schedule so when i actually have a day off, they are used to getting up at a certain time.

if all your cat wants is to be in the room with you, keep the door open.

I suggest the use of earplugs. If you feed the cat at night (morning feeding always seemed to be the reason my cats would wake me), then they are doing it just because they are trying to get your attention. If you use earplugs at night (or in the morning when you start to hear them), then they might start realizing that they are doing it to no gain. Cats are persistent though, so it will probably take a while for him to stop.

He wants to go out. If he has not been neutered, get him fixed ASAP. If he has, you might want to install a cat door for him, so he can let himself out and back in. There are remote doors available now, and will only open if your cat is wearing the receptor collar.

kitties are very social. at 0600 kitty is waking up and wants you to do so also. do you feed wet food to your kitty??
if so, feed that at night as you go to bed. kitties hunt at night for food. in the morning kitty wants to know he still has a family--he is looking to see you are still alive and breathing.
locking kitty out of your room or in a bathroom is not social behavior--kitty families stay together.
feeding kitty at night with wet food and then playing with him for a while before you go to bed will help kitty relax at night --give hijm a chance.
if you do not want kitty to be everywhere in his house, why get a cat? your home is kitty's home--he needs to splore and know evwery inch of it--like giving your wife a kitchen and saying "do not use the stove"
let kitty roam in your home day and night --that way he knws that you are ok and that there is nothing hiding from him to hunt.
i tell my kitten that it is time for bed.; i go to bed. he plays alone elsewhere in th e home. int he morning he will come to wake mee at 0700am. he just wants to know momms is still alive and even tho he does not eat much in the morning, he wants me to be around for his needs.
good luck with kitty--let him roam in the house--talk with him --let him know what you are doing and makje sure he has a play area at night that is outside of your bedroom --leave the door open--feed him at nite just before you hit bed--see if his patterns do not adapt to fit you better.

give your kitty some shrimp tails to eat and he will be your best friend until the next time you give him shrimp tails. My girl tabby does the same thing because she wants to go out for a morning walk. I wake up, kick her a little bit, make coffee and let her out. then I go pass out for another hour and let her back in when i wake up to drink my coffee

Cat's have their own schedule. It may not be your schedule. At 6am it wants to come in and go to bed. It has been up all night.
