I want to go to school to become a high school counselor, but I have a full time job and can only take one or two classes at a time. I've looked online and can't seem to figure out a set group of classes that I have to take at all. All I can figure out from this site and common sense is psychology and a couple others, but what do I do first? Can anyone help at all? I just need some sort of direction. . .

I have a counceling degree. The school your attending should have a catalog w/ the classes required. Check into that. Also, once you enroll in the college, they should provide you with an advisor who will help you figure out what classes to take. Have you taken your prerequisites? If not, I would recommend taking College Algebra and your English Comps. The psychology classes are usually pretty easy because you can relate them to yourself and friends/family. You could go ahead and take the intro to counceling classes etc... Here is a link w/a list of classes for the undergraduate program from the college I went to:

Good luck

You will still need basic math and English classes. Probably an art or music appreciation class.
Talk to a counselor at the school. That way you don't waste time or money on usless classes.

If you are in Alabama, try this site.

Once you have a "stars" agreement, you are locked in for your classes. That way you do not have to take added classes if the requirements change in a few years.

you can take your basic courses (math, english etc) at a junior college for the first two years. Then research universities of where you would like to attend and major in Psychology. You will then apply for your GRE (entrance exam for your Masters degree) and take Counseling for your Masters program.

www.liberty.edu has a great program. Research here as well. I wish you well.

I would talk to the college counselor--they should be able to lead you in the right direction. All schools are different so they would know your shool better then we would.
