Just cause her coolant is leaking within a day doesnt mean its a blown head gasket from the start. My last vehicle was a explorer that had this problem. Mine at first took a week to empty..then one day i realized i had a hole in my lower radiator hose.

Fill your radiator up and turn the car on...let it run and look for water leakage.

Just a warning, Neons tend to have faulty head gaskets. They give out around 80,000 miles or so and cost a ton to fix (upwards of $1,000) I had a '98 Plymouth Neon until the head gasket blew then our mechanic told us about this recurrying problem. The problem is, they don't normally go until after the car is out of warranty, so the owner ends up paying for it. I'll never buy another Neon again.

I had a 1995 neon when they first came out and really enjoyed that car. I kept it until it couldn't run anymore which was 10 years. My suggestion is to find a reputable Dodge dealership that you can trust to take your car for routine maintenance and build a relationship with the service advisor. If you get a shop/repair place that you can trust, your car will run better for you without $$$ going out the window.

water pump maybe, or you have a hole in your radiator. Take it to a mechanic that has special dye for that. He will put the dye in your radiator and put a black light on it and they have a special pair of glasses the will show if there is a leak or not....good luck

She is right, your head gasket is blown. Even if it wasn't before, overheating is very bad for aluminum heads, so it needs checked out.
