The belief of a higher being came from not knowing the world around us. people created gods to explain things that occur naturally. throughout time, humans have always believed that there is something more out there. it gives them comfort in a world of chaos. it gives answers to the unknown. It;s not just god. It's the thought that there is something more to reach for. that is the case in most religions. the end is some kind of goal. It could be heaven or Nirvana. what ever it is it is something that can't be obtained on earth itself.

Sorry love, but there are no accidents with God. People in ancient times weren't so different from people now, they had to believe in something too. Humans are inquisitive, always have been. How else would we have progressed? We will never know everything, we're not meant to. However, we don't stop learning. Neither do humans stop searching for that great answer to why? I hope you too will discover for yourself that God is real. When that happens a lot of answers fall into place.

I can't speak for any one other than myself because I have asked myself that question many times and I can only say that all my life, even as a child I have felt that God existed for me and no matter the things I went through as a child and young woman, even in my sin,I have always felt inside me that God exists for me.It's not some thing that was hammered into me or forced into me by my parents,it just was.It still is but now I am understanding all those hard times I thought were hard and they were but all the bad things, all the sad things, all of them made me so strong and understanding of others, that's the best part of all that's ever happened to me,that I have a understanding and an empathy for so many,I sit in judgement of no one for I remember from whenc I've come.I tell my kids that are no longer kids that whatever they do they will not shock me nor embarras me,apples don't fall from trees and the things they think are too shameful to be forgiven for are the very things I probably needed forgiving for myself.Yes,I believe in God and thank ful for this belief for I have no idea where it comes from,I feel blessed to feel it though.

It all had to start with something and from somewhere. I don't believe for one moment that it started in the garden of Eden with one couple but....... I do believe that there is an energy with supreme power that produced the big bang that in turn created the universe and the planets etc and life came along after. If that power has the name of God then that's the name I'll call it.
It's not in the form of man and it's not connected to any religion.
Some may disagree with me but everybody has the right to believee in what they believe. Some say that it's faith. They need this to believe in what they see and to follow what they have been told. We are a miracle in creation but it's all down to time and development.

People like security and reassurance. They like easy definite answers. They like life's problems to have a Clear cut answer and someone to tell them what to do. People like to feel loved and wanted, they long to belong. It's nice to be a member of a club where everyone has the same view of the world as you do.
That's why people believe in God. What came before that? Just nature worship, spirits in the air / wind / rivers / Trees.
When you grow up , spiritually, and take responsibility for yourself, you leave these things behind. Sad to see them go, but that's life.

It gives people hope and a purpose in their life. It is fact that man evolved from nature and not Adam and Eve or any other story made up centuries ago.
I am not religious but am tolerent of religion since when used in the right way, it promotes peace and kindness and that can only be a good thing.

The main reason is insecurity:
It's nice to believe that there is a purpose to everything, even though life often seems meaningless. An omnipotent being who has a plan for the universe and every single person in it is an appealing idea.

God has placed in each man a desire to know Him and an innate knowledge of Him. What is universally observable is that man will fill that hole with the real thing or false idols. Primitive socities worship wooden idols and our so-called sophisticated society worships the gods of material possessions, money and success. I believe in God because I felt a deep yearning for something and when I "found" God I now feel complete. Peace :-)

The problem with atheism is that it doesn't speak to the heart and ease the fear like organised religions do.
It doesn't matter how rational the arguments against the existance of god are - people will still believe. Belief in the improbable is purely an emotional reponse to the fear of dying.
