No nothing to do with age.
You are probably entering the wrong information.
Be careful of 0 (zero) and o (letter o) and similar easily confused characters

Why do you still have win 95? You should go to some modern version of Linux if money is an issue. Try DSL (Damn Small Linux). If money isn't a huge problem, you could easily upgrade to Win98 or Win2000 for very cheap. You could even get a used XP box for cheap these days. You should check out Craig's list and eBay. One of my friends is actually getting ready to sell his machine, so if you are looking to buy, I'll give you his contact info.

Well, it's not because it's too old, but it may be the wrong set of numbers. It is usually on the CD jewel case. However, you probably are not going to be able to get a new one. Call Microsoft anyway. After they are finished lauging, maybe they can help you.

I would see if you can buy a cheap copy of windows98 se off ebay. I liked it much better than 95
I still run it on my other computer (celeron 1000) and if you keep the machine clean, it is pretty fast

or better yet use linux, it is free
try http://distrowatch.com for a bunch of linus distributions
ubuntu is very popular
www.ubuntu.com

linux will always run better/faster than windows
think about it...it has millions of nerds fixing/improving every part
