Actually, Getting people to recongize God's name, Jehovah in English, or Yahweh in Hebrew is harder.

If Jehovah used his name more times that the titles God and Lord combined, He must have had a reason.

Jesus even said he made Jehovah's name known.

John 17:6 “I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world.

26 And I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them.”

My family's belief is saying "Oh my God" is useing his name in vain but I myself disagree. "Oh my" is a shock statement that could be towards anyone. You made an A on a test "Oh my God" you are surprised by the A and saying "Oh my God I made an A on that test." So I feel Oh my God is not useing his name in vain.

lol

He doesn't exist. When I say "Holy Monkey Balls!" That doesn't mean that I actually think there are some holy monkey balls floating around.

I think it is funny how some people nit-pick this one figure of speech in the human language, but if you were to actually pay attention and listen to everything you say throughout the day, you would find that there are many things you say, that if taken literally, don't make sense.

B/c my Dad being around influenced me to use the profanity God Damit when I'm really really angry. Thats all really. Just the influence of others.

God does not exist for me, so I have no fear of using this word 'god' that is brandished at me by all those superstitious fools, for its only the name of a creation of man.

Uh, when is the last time you saw an atheist kicking puppies in the name of Jesus?

I choose to because it really upsets Christians to hear it. In private I almost never use profanity.

Edit: I really need to start saying "Holy Monkey Balls!"

If a common expression is "holy cow," does that mean there are really Holy Cows?

Because he doesn't exist, I can use his name figuratively.

Why do you believe in fairy tales?

??
Well....I also say "holy cow", but I don't really think cows are sacred. Sorry, it's just a often-used phrase in our culture.
