The vet just rang me now with the results of his stool samples. Unfortunatly its campylobacter. She said that a course of antibiotics for 5 days will be started. She said that a stool sample should be taken after as well. Has anybody else had this in their puppy or even to themselves? I have a younger brother and I dont want him getting it, do you think he should keep away from the pup? Im the main carer of the pup n clean up after him, is there anything that I should do to keep myself alright as well, other than the obvious washing hands after handling?
Will my puppy be ok after the antibiotics or can campylobacter still be there after it? Should I be doing anything for him to keep him alright?
Thanks very much,
Very concerned pup owner :(

Campylobactor is food poisoning and rarely lasts for more than 10 days. Your puppy should make a full recovery. It probably ate something infected with it whilst out, young dogs will eat anything.
It is catching in humans but you are doing all of the right things so don't worry I am sure your puppy will soon be well again and make a full recovery.

Just as everyone else has said, make sure the dog takes all the meds and everyone keeps their hands clean. Good Luck.

Here's some great information for you about campylobacter:

Make sure everyone around her is washing their hands frequently and try to avoid the puppy licking faces. Other than that, you all should be fine!

The pup will be okay once it has finished it's antibiotics. Make sure you keep your child's hands clean.
