I see people in every question in this section gleefully telling the questioner that they are "going to hell", often with nice little details added about what's going to happen to them when they get there.
So the next time one of you Christians wants to whine and belly-ache about "Why do people hate Christians when we're so NICE?!?" I'd like to save you the 5 points of asking and tell you that it's because we're tired of being threatened constantly.
If I wanted some Jan Brady wannabe in my face screaming about how she's gonna laugh her butt off when Jesus comes back and throws me in the lake of fiery torment and all my skin peels off, well, I'd ask for that, okay? Otherwise, back the frig off.
I generally am not too big on reporting, but I'm making a New Years Resolution to report anyone I threatens a poster with hell. Who's with me?

Edit: That last sentence should be "anyone who threatens".

PLaying "good cop, bad cop" and having one Xian do the threatening and another do the whining doesn't play. I've yet to see a single Xian chastise another for pulling the "hell card".

Yeah, Pilgrim, I can see how being threatened with physical harm is analagous to being told your god doesn't exist. Grow up, ya big baby.

I'm definitely with you. If one more person TELLS me what I believe, as if they've read Wiccan teachings, or uses a made up blog from some fake Christian who converted to Wicca, realized it was Satan who tempted her there, and found Jesus, I just might snap.

I don't see many Christians threatening people with hell on here. I do see a lot of hate towards them though... just read the replies here to this question. The ones that do mention hell are simply stating their belief that if you do not accept Christ, then you are destined for hell. Nothing personal, just a statement of a fact that they believe. They are trying to warn you... not belittle you, your intelligence, or your beliefs. Most of the comments and questions aimed at Christians are made with intentions to do just that. This is a religion and spirituality section, and they have as much right as you to state their beliefs. Look at many of the atheist here, mocking and scoffing. Most all of their questions are bashing Christians, Islamics, Jews... anyone who professes a faith or belief in God. Get a life and let the people who have legitimate religion questions ask them without the constant barrage of inappropriate and immature statements.

I am truely sorry that you had to spend all that time and effort to express anger and frustration against Christians.
I've come to find that there are a lot of trolls acting as Christians.
Then there are some Christians who are truely fearful of damnation, and they don't know any other way to spread the word than saying 'turn or burn'
However they are infants in Christ. It is a spiritual journey of growth and maturity. Its hard to not judge those who are just begining their journey because they are the ones with the most colourful things to say, however, don't get too upset about it. Just be understanding, and compassionate, and patient.
Peace.

Here is your answer stop your whining.
Ya its not all to Christian to climb down your throat with "Your Going to Hell". But I've never seen someone whine so much over other peoples ignorants in verbal tact.
Why do you ignorant atheists come asking questions that you really don't want answers to. You are here to vent and see how many people you can get on your side.
Grow up and start asking questions you are truly wanting answers for. Maturity and wisdom are not the same as being smart find maturity and wisdom then ask questions.

I have to say that I agree on both sides of this issue... I am a christian myself and I agree with you on the fact that some will persecute others and tell them they are going to hell etc... It's wrong of them and God will deal with them in his own way... You can't force someone into a religion everyone believes there own thing.

Eh, well...
You're right.
But for the most part, I don't think it's the same Christians saying both. At least, most of the ones I've met are either very sweet or very self-righteous, but not both.
Then again, this is Yahoo. People change on the internet.

Sign me up. There are nice Christians, of course (I'm one), but most I have encountered are self-righteous, judgmental hypocrites who hide their bigotry and hatred behind "faith". They are so quick to point the finger when they should be taking the time to look inside themselves and find that they aren't as perfect as they think they are. It's people like this that turned me off of going to church anymore.

Yes, some people seem to get off on the idea that others will burn in hell. It's almost as sick as a murderer killing someone, or a man who rapes. They almost "enjoy" the pain of others. Sort of sicko if you ask me. Instead of trying to be responsible and just share views, and have compassion for others, they try to threaten me with fire and brimstone. That hasn't worked for centuries, why they think it will work now, I don't know.

Christians are heavily impersonated on here and I don't appreciate the blanket accusation. I have never threatened anyone with hell. Don't you think I am sick of people posting there is no god on a question about what a scripture means? We are all victims of selfish people so put the violin away and realise this is a public forum.

Stop sterotypeing Christians. We are not all that way.
Find a bible and read the first 3 chapters of John. There is something waiting for you there.

I totally understand your position. My wife is a Wiccan who grew up in Dallas, Texas. I know all about what it's like. But, it's not entirely fair to say that rational Christians aren't marginalized for their views as well.
I'm not defending the Christians who attack you, but they are the public face of Christianity, and those of us who disagree with them take it from both sides. Non-Christians attack us for Christianity, and fundamentalist Christians attack us for being bad Christians.
I refuse to take responsibility for people who share a very basic belief but twist it to make them feel superior at the expense of others, and I'd prefer not to be held in contempt with them. I don't ask for sympathy, but as a Wiccan, you should understand that being held to false stereotypes is frustrating
