Actually, Toxic shock is not an allergy but a bacterial infection (usually staph) caused by either super absorbent tampons (women tend to leave them in longer) or leaving a regular tampon in too long. It is a condition that if not caught early can lead to death. Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and/or fever. If you have any of these during your period or imediately after you should seek help immediately. The earlier it is diagnosed the better the outcome. Treatment is with IV antibiotics....no surgery.

Toxic shock syndrome is caused by staphylococcal or streptococcal exotoxins. Symptoms include high fever, hypotension, diffuse erythematous rash, and multiple organ involvement that may rapidly progress to severe and intractable shock. Diagnosis is made clinically and by isolating the organism. Treatment includes antibiotics, intensive support, and immunoglobulin.

There are several reasons for toxic shock. Get to a hospital immediately. I go into shock from wasp stings if struck in head. It happens so fast that's there's sometime little I can do.

toxic sock syndrome is when you are allergic to the usage of tampons. You can get very severe cramps, feel light headed also vomit. There is treatment you can seek from your doctor. If not treated in time it can be very fatal.
