Yes, they are defiantly worth attending. For more than one reason.
1. attendance qualifies for the ground portion of the wings program.
(complete a stage and the BFR requirements are forgiven.

2. meeting local pilots and "networking"
3. You actually might learn something that might save your bacon one day.

As far as costs for the seminars, I believe that depends upon the seminar. But as far as attending them the FBO I used to work for used to hosted them quite often and they where very informative and always well attended. If they interest you I would say go ahead!

I've been to several and I think it's worth it. It never cost me anything. If for no other reason it is a great opportunity to fly somewhere for a reason other than a $100 Hamburger and mix it up with other pilots. They usually have coffee and hand-outs and such. Go for it.
