my best friend (mark) is good friends with all these people in a band. one of those people in the band are named John. Mark called me with John on the other line. We talked for a while, and Mark showed John my myspace. Apparently, he thinks I am "insanely hot" and was talking to Mark about how bad he wants to "bone me." I was joking around on the phone and told John I'd give him a lapdance if he gave me and some friends a ride to the movies. So i probably led him on or something. Because I don't do things like that. Mark is having a party on Saturday and the whole band is going to be there. I'm afraid this guy John is going to try something on me and I'm not sure how to handle this. I've heard some bad things about John also, that he's an alcoholic and has a bad home-life. I know the typical answer is to "not go" to the party but I'm going to eventually meet this guy John somewhere because he's friends with a lot of people I know, and I AM going to the party. what do i do?

As my mother would say- WHY on God's given earth would you say something like that? It sounded so "easy!" Go to the party- if he makes a joke or comments then tell him point blank that you were just keeping up with the conversation at the time and that you are NOT like that- that he needs to find a "fan" or groupie for that stuff, but you still like his music or something. And stay clear of him- guys like that are bad news anyway- and don't put your foot in your mouth again! Even before all the cell phones and computers -gossip spread like wildfire- don't ever give people a chance to do that to you! Always know that when you walk away from a person, situation or fight that you did it clean then you won't have any regrets. Go have fun at the party- tell your friend Mark to back you up and let John know you are "not his type".

My advice: Tell Mark to let John know that your not interested in anything, other than friendship right now - with anyone. If Mark is your best friend, then explain to him that you think you probably led John on and you regret it now and know that you shouldn't have. Have him tell John that you're sorry if you did. Or better yet (but also harder) - call John yourself and tell him the above. Yes, harder to do - but will get the awkwardness of meeting face to face at the party out of the way. Good Luck!

Just tell your friend Mark you was kidding about the lapdance and make sure he tells John that you really arent interested in him.

Make sure you tell him this before the party so it is all out of the way and you can go without any worries. Make sure you stick around with your friends just incase he does try to make a move or something.

Stop kidding about suggestive things. If you don't do them then don't joke about them. You have opened a pandora's box when you speak loosely. You probably have a great sense of humor but not everyone takes humor the way you mean for it to be taken. Know your audience and never assume your audience will take everything you say as a joke. You may have to put your foot in your mouth and apologize for giving the wrong impression. Go to the party but remember there may be a high expectation waiting for you. You have to step up and admit you may have gone too far with your humor. I wish you well.

well, u r not entirely innocent in ths matter. but it is not too late. u can go to the party as long as u feel confident that u can handle john and make him well within the limits. dismiss what you said over the phone as a joke. make sure that u stick to ur gun and dont let him get the better of you, All the best. hope u enjoy the party

Just go to the party and if he says anything just tell him you were joking and you would demand him to be your personal cab service for a year for the lapdance. Just make it into an impossible suggestion to show that you never thought he would take you serious. I would just chill out and try not to avoid him as it will look like you have something to hide.

Deny saying anything about the lap dance, or say you were just joking around and that you are not that type of person. Make sure you have friends with you that will back you up while you are at the party.

your worried over nothing. you were just flirting, it doesn't mean anything. just go to the party and have a good time. it John approaches you about the lap-dance, just tell him you were joking, then move away from him and find a friend to hang out with.

Head him off at the pass. Let him know up front that you were teasing and are not that kind of girl. But don't be surprised if you develop a reputation for being a tease. Learn from this: don't make promises you don't intend to keep.
