Well there's an upside and a down side, depending on the girl. Some girls may be like awwww how sweet and giggle about it, but most girls will be like, " Is this guy crazy? We're not even going out and he's talking about having kids? What if we are going out, then would he talk about getting married?" So yeah you can either get the aww or the get away from me. FYI some girls even though you say it in a jokey manner they'll take it seriously because my bf dated this girl and they had nothing to talk about so he bought up the baby conversation he said it was a huge mistake because a week later when he wanted to break up with her. She made a big deal about it because she thought he was in love with her for bringing it up and they only went out for 2 weeks!

i depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking to settle down and get married and start a family then no it is not. I mean if kids in the near future is something that is important to you then why waste your time with a potential gf that hates kids. If you are saying it joking around all I can say is be careful what you wish for.

Well, depends how long you have been together...If you are in that stage when you are open with each other...you can ask her indirectly...what's her idea of having baby, how many...etc... just test her by talking normally..and look how she will react...after all you will find out if you share the same thoughts about babies....

Wait until you're contemplating marriage or a long-term relationship before you ask questions like that.
If she's not even your girlfriend at the moment then she might think that this is an alternative way of asking to have sex with her.

Once I told a girl if we had a kid it would be half awesome because the kid would be half me. And somehow I got laid, it was a one night stand though, im not sure if she was offended beacuse I was so drunk that I dont remember it.

Obviously you were flirting with someone you find attractive and unless she took offense and found you too brazen, then there isn't anything wrong with it. Why not ask her how she felt about your remark?
