I'm 31, married, caucasion, work full-time making about 32k/ year. I want to go back to school to get an Assoc. degree in the healthcare field. I can only do this if I would be able to get a student loan, or some sort of financial aid. Do you think I would qualify for that, or some sort of grant?

The government has made it virtually impossible for you to be denied. I went back to school at age 33 and was given all kinds of financial aid. I also received some grant money as well. The best thing to do is go to the college where you plan on attending and talk with the financial aid department. They will help you get all the loans and free money (grants) that you will need to make it through school.

To qualify for federal grants or loans you need to be a US citizen or qualified resident, not be in default or owe the government back funds from financial aid, not have a drug conviction while you recieved financial aid and if you are male you need to have registered for selective service.

Based on your discription I don't see why you would not qualify for something so go online to www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete the FREE application which will be sent to the schools of your choice who will then send you, upon being accepted, a letter stating what you qualify for. If you need to borrow do a little research with the financial aid office because some lenders may offer better insentives for going into the healthcare field (I know here in KY you may be eligible to have some or all of your loans paid off if you go into the healthcare field).

Yes, you can qualify for financial assistance. Your best bet is to start with www.fafsa.ed.gov to find out more about the federal financial aid process, www.fastweb.com to find out more about scholarships, and the financial aid office of the college that you are interested in attending.
