In this time all military personnel are deployable. Some ratings that hardly deployed are now on some type of rotation. Don't sweat that, just enjoy the opportunity to visit different places and learn their culture.
It is rewarding and I'm sure you will have lots to talk about with your family.
Stay Navy.

MA is a full rate, advancement is difficult to say the least. You will go to "A" School in Lackland AFB in Tx. From there you will probably be given orders to a base, either overseas or conus. MA's are being tapped for deployment to all kinds of areas now. Iraq, Africa, Afghanistan. Before you can be deployed you will need to meet certain requirements, security clearance, physical readiness. Not all MA's are going to ships anymore, we are becoming the Navy's ground infantry force little by little.

It's hard to say, MA usually work on bases, but do get assigned to ships as well. Norfolk, VA is the largest Navy base, I think, then there is San Deigo, CA, Jacksonville, FL, Pennsicola, FL, WA, HI - then there is overseas. Don't worry, you'll get a chance to show your preference, but you get sent where the Navy says. After you've completed your time at your first assigned post, you have more flexiblity as to where you decide. All this will be gone over w/you during boot camp. Good Luck!

I think pretty much all over the world. My nephew left Texas for boot camp in Illinois and then was sent to San Diego. From there he went to Turkey and several different countries after that. Then he was sent back to San Diego and from there he was sent to Maine. Today he is stationed in Maryland where he will finish out his 8 years. He started out wanting a career in the navy but after 8 years has decided to quit. Right now while still being in the navy he is taking courses in electronics so he will be able to get a good job after his time is up.

My brother is in the navy. He says a lot of new recruits are being sent to the carrier ships. He is on the Eisenhower, and they're to be joined by another carrier soon. The Navy is very active in the war right now, so be prepared. Ignore the idiots giving you ridiculous answers...it's a great thing you're doing! Congratulations and good luck!

You're joining the Navy as a MA (Master-at-Arms)?
Shore-Duty will be at virtually any shore-command... Norfolk; Jacksonville; San Diego; Washington DC; Whidbey Island, WA; Hawaii,
Sea-Duty would be aboard an aircraft carrier or large Amphibious ship... or overseas base like Japan, England, Spain, Okinawa, Baharain, Iraq...
I did 15 years as an AW (helicopters) and saw Florida, Tennessee, San Diego (home-base for 10 yrs), Japan, Norfolk, and a grand total of 6 years actually at sea.
It's what you make of it... I enjoyed it. Good luck.

I was in the Navy. Sailors are usually deployed on ships in the oceans. That should narrow it down for you.

This isn't the easiest question to answer because it generally all depends on where you are stationed. If you head to the east coast you will normally do Med cruises and west coast will hit up Asia. But both can deploy to the Arabian Gulf.

You'll probably go to San Diego first, and then probably be assigned to a carrier. After that you might be assigned to a different carrier, or you could be assigned a shore in a foreign land. My cousin spent most of the first two years on a sub. The Navy will take good care of you. After it is over, you will be able to list it on every resume for a job.... and that will impress anyone !! Good luck!!

It is likely that it will be on a ship or by the shore. If you're enlisting, you have to go through basic of course and then school. Depending on how well you do in school, you will have more of less of a choice of where to go.
Good luck. =3
