... Still need a little help....
Doing quite well on the patches I'm on... cravings are not bad at all... coping quite well (to my surprise!) But there's still just one difficulty: having trouble with the whole occupying my hands and mouth... I've found that I've been biting my lips without realising I'm doing it... and nibbling at the inside of my mouth! (Yuk!)
... Need to stop ASAP... Has anyone else quit and had this same problem? Andy tips and advice on what I can do there??
Thanks in advance!
xx
- Repeated question -
I did ask this one before but didn't get as many answers as I'd hoped for so hoping it is going to be second time lucky(?)

Gum is always a popular one for something to do with your mouth. Sugar free if you'll be chewing a lot. Tootsie Roll pops are suckers with globs of Tootsie Roll in the middle. They would certainly occupy your hands AND mouth, but they're loaded with sugar, so use them sparingly.
As for what to do with your hands, I like the ideas of at least doodling, or getting a hobby like crocheting or actual drawing. Then you could chew gum while you do and you would be doing something productive. :)
Good for you for trying so hard. Don't give up.

I quit at the end of 2003. This was a concern for me but it disappeared much sooner than I thought it would. So don't worry. Just make sure you always have a magazine or book (or crossword/sudoku book), and a pen on you if you are going to be waiting places alone. Read the book or magazine while holding the pen, this feels quite comforting. I found I drank more when I quit so I made sure when out I had less alcoholic drinks or took smaller sips to compensate. Chew gum or have healthy snacks around. Its just un-learning a habit and it will take very little time for you to no longer notice your hands.

Get a pack of tootsie-roll pops...that was your hands and mouth are occupied. Just dont make too much of a habit of eating when you get cravings...then you will have another habit to break!

Try getting a hobby that you can do when you're sitting such as crochet etc. You don't have to keep it up, just until you feel better. A lot of people suck candy but that can be fattening, crushed ice works good instead, plus it will help get that water in your body that we all need everyday. Good luck!

I've never smoked, but I'm a daughter of a former smoker. Gum always keeps you occupied and try doing that with typing on a computer. Its challenging, entertaining, and it'll keep you busy. You should be glad you quit. I've had family DIE from smoking. Keep trying. :D

I have also given up and was using patches, but I have been occupying my mouth with sugar free gum. As for occupying my hands I've had a pen in my hand constantly, and a doodle pad for me to scribble on...

Some say eating small strips of carrot helps - or you can get the plastic cigarettes. Ask your pharmacy for advice xxxxxxxx
