I had the same problem the first time I flew. I thought my left eye was going to shoot out of my head and my skull would crack. I had allergy problems at the time and I think the sinus pressure was to blame for the pain. Try taking something to clear that up a couple of hours before you get on the next plane.
You might also try chewing some gum or something to make sure you adjust to the pressure.
That's all I got.

It sounds like your sinuses are bothering you. If it happens every time you fly, you may have a deviated septum. This can be caused by trauma to the nose (like a broken nose) or maybe you were just born that way. Talk to your doctor as there are a lot of different treatments for this, including surgery. Or you may have an ordinary sinus infection. If that's the case, get some antibiotics to treat the infection, and take some sudafed or similar decongestant to clear your sinuses during flight. Using a vapor rub like Vicks may help, too, and a couple of tylenol. Try sleeping with a humidifier the night before your flight. Anything that can help clear and moisturize the sinuses before flight will help.

It used to happen to me to on the couple of times, just when I started traveling by plane.
It stopped as I got used to flying, but the first time i did´t notice it was that I was traveling with a friend and we started talking about a very interesting subject, I was caught with the thing that I forgot I was flying. By the time we finished we´ve already made half way.

Try chewing gum....it helps releive the pressure every time you swallow a little.
Or even swallowing WITHOUT the gum.
It may depend on how steep an angle the plane takes off...the steeper the angle, the more you'll experience the pressure...not much you can do about that though.
Good luck.

I assume that this is when the plane is descending in preparation for landing. Your sinuses are probably congested and this prevents the pressure changes from equalizing in your head. Try taking a decongestant before flying.

I get it sometimes. Especially when landing. I swallow really hard a ton of times, and if that doesn't work I hold my nose and blow. Sometimes that hurts for a bit, but after a while it feels better!

You must go and see a doctor, my friend. Its not normal that your head hurts expect if the cabin isn't pressured properly

Take the train from now on or get a consult from your doctor.

take the train ( squeeze your nostrils shut and gently blow - this will 'pop' your ears much more effectively than chewing gum or yawning )
