my 5 year old son has been set a school project to find out why i gave him his name and the meaning behind it ! but the truth is i dont know i just chose it cause i liked it ! but obviously it wouldn't be much of a project if all he could say was my mum just liked it !!!!!!!!!!! any one got any ideas ? my son's name is jordan

Why isn't it good enough to say you liked it!! Maybe you need to think about why you liked it and how you chose it from all of the ones you'll have thought of. It shows that you chose a name that was special to you, making him special. The real problem is the lack of thought that the teacher put into this project!!

Jordan is a Hebrew name and it means Descend. Maybe you could say you really like baskeball and the name is after Michael Jordan.

Just have him say that when you looked at him, you knew right away he was a "Jordan" and then tell them what the name means.

you can say the reason is because you liked it and then look up the meaning of the name and places also. that way his project wont be a total waste lol... but remember he is 5 sso it shouldnt be an extravagent project any way.

i think you just liking the name is good enough... but if you would like to find the meaning of the name jordan there are sights on internet (name meanings) i called my son sonny after the godfather film!

It is also a country.
