Nobody denies the devastation that has been caused by the war in Iraq, despite our good intentions. As U.S. troops remain in Iraq, human costs continue to increase. Thousands of parents, children, siblings, and friends have risked and lost their lives while fighting for the United States. Each time a life is lost in the war, families are being broken. When the war ends, the deaths will stop. In the long run, though, the loss of a loved one will stay with the heartbroken families for the rest of their lives. U.S. citizens are not the only ones impacted by the war casualties, but Iraqi people suffer for the same reason. Unfortunately, innocent bystanders in Iraq have been killed as a result of the war. It is unfair that Iraqis have to live in the midst of a raging war. The sooner the United States military leaves Iraq, the more lives will be preserved.

What you have written about can be looked at from many points of view. Admittedly, it is true that many people, servicemen and Iraqis alike have lost their lives; but is it worth withdrawing from Iraq? Some people have claimed that the United States is in a "quagmire" of sorts in Iraq and that "The Iraq War" has become the next Vietnam. This statement is completely untrue. In Vietnam, the United States lost nearly 60,000 soldiers. In Iraq, casualties are just 3,000 soldiers. I am not trying to seem like I undervalue life, but the claims of Iraq turning into Vietnam are completely dishonest. We might still not be able to finish off the job that we started, but we cannot simply leave Iraq and let the country be ravaged in a Civil War that could possibly take even more lives.

You forgot the part where we're not allowed to hurt the terrorists' feelings while we're attempting to fight a war.
