My younger sister died of renal failure and my brother had a massive heart attack at the age of 44.

The biggest factor is WHY you went into renal failure. Some causes are easily reversible and unlikely to reoccur. Other causes (like diabetic nephropathy) don't bode well for the future.

Yeah, sorry to hear about your loss.
If you're not a diabetic, hypertensive, or have other medical conditions such as SLE or Rheumatic disease....you're chances are probably less. But, it all depends on how you got the Renal failure to begin with....was it a simple UTI or pyelonephritis? Given the high family history of renal failure and early death ....Were you ever told that you might have polycystic kidney disease? If that's the case, you need to have regular MD follow ups....get ultrasound of liver possibly MRI of brain etc etc...

im sorry to hear about your sister dear...im assuming that you have gone through a renal transplant...the chances of failure are minimal if you take your immunosuppresants regularly and steer clear of infections,eat healthy and cooked food and stay away from very crowded places where you might catch a cold or something!...all the best to you..i hope i have been of help!
