Most states say 18 is the legal age. This girl will have to have a full time job to pay her bills. And then there is the landlord. Will a apt, home owner want to rent to someone younger than 18? There are a lot of things to consider before moving out.

I would probably say 18, but I sympathize with your situation. Have you tried looking into a local boarding house for young women. Check you the local library or the local housing authority. They may be able to suggest a way to help you find housing but yet not be on your own. I know this is the 21st century but a young woman on her own is a target ....no matter how safe your town may seem. Best of luck to you my dear.

The number isn't necessarily important. You're old enough to live on your own when you can pay for rent, food, car, insurance, health care, phone, electricity, clothes, all your needs.
