Because they are worried that people will begin to see the Bible for what it is, a mixture of a little history with a whole lot of myth.

Because people think it's fact and people are silly enough to believe it.
Think of it this way. Someone writes a book stating, let's see, uh, That the holocaust wasn't real, Hitler was the good guy, and it's all a Jewish conspiracy for world domination. (Please note, I don't think this way, it's just an example). Really silly, huh? But, as with the Da Vinci code, there are some facts in there, like places or one or two historical facts. Small things that really don't prove the book, but make it seem crediable.
Now, it's a big movie. The Jewish people are in an uproar over it. But, people who aren't Jewish, and some who are, are suddenly believing this book. They're looking at the Jews in a new and very ugly light. People would rather believe this lie of a book then read history or look into the Jewish faith.
Sounds silly, right? But it's happening. That is why we don't like the Da Vinci code. It's a lie that people are believing against the Catholic (and Christian) faith merely because they'd rather believe what's hateful and ugly then find out the truth.

Unfortunately Christians have made a big stink about it. They have done this out of fear and misinformation. Many Christians have difficulty in knowing how to determine if something is genuine or not. Christians also know how easily the general public will just accept what someone tells them. (esp. when they portray it as the reality)
So the fear may not be misplaced. I have never made a big stink about it myself. I saw the movie and I enjoyed it. I thought it was an entertaining film, and an interesting twist on history. If you go to your local library to find the DaVinci code you will find in in the FICTION section. The movie/book does have certain historical accuracies, but there are no modern day genuine historians who uphold ALL the claims that the book makes nor do they uphold the primary claim that Jesus was married.

Silly question without much thought.
If evolution is so fictional, why do we make such a big stink over that? Because there are many people who believe in it and don't take the time to study and are misled.
And it doesn't bother me because I've done my homework on it and 95% of it is fiction based on a fraudulent document placed in the French historical department.
The only fact is Da vinci painted the "last supper", there is a "Catholic church" and there was a group called "the knights templar", but what they did in the book was ALL fiction.

As a Christian, it personally didn't bother me because I'm secure in what I believe. I honestly think that if nothing had been done about the book or movie, it would have come and gone with little impact on the world. I read the book and it's a fun adventure/mystery, but its history is completely fabricated. That's why they call it fiction.
As far as the Christians who did make a big stink about it, I think they did that because they were afraid (justifiably so) that people who were curious about or ill-informed on Christianity would take much of what is said in the book/movie to be truthful.

I am a Christian and read the DaVini Code 2 yrs ago. It was a good read but its fiction and I just forgot about it. You believe Dan Brown, but not the Bible? No, it doesn't bother me, Jesus was not married and He is the Son of God. This is the reason Christians question the book because some people are gullible enough to believe in it rather than the Bible.

Because they rely on the gullible people being dragged into their religion. They don't need a book/film that even though is a work of fiction, can direct said gullible people away from them.
Look at it this way, if people are motivated to look up the facts behind the Da Vinci code, what stops them looking up the facts behind the Bible? It's the desire for knowledge that ultimately results in a lack of need for religion, the Da Vinci code indirectly uses Christianity's biggest icon against itself.
I can understand their problem with it, but for one thing it just points out their true nature - cover the truth and believe what you're told.

Two reasons: One, it touches some sore points, and two, it is offensive (to some Christians). Fiction does not exclude offense. Especially if there's the odd valid point made. Ask Salman Rushdie.
To put this another way, you could be hurt by totally untrue malicious gossip, right? Fictional, you might say, but you might make a stink about that.

They may not be christians if they think the DaVinci code is anything more than an adventure story, or maybe they just have not read their Bible.
That book/movie is an amalgam of many legends and myths about several very different philosophies. It's a pretty good story, I didn't think that much of the move, but the book is ok.
Either way, IT AIN'T REAL FOLKS!

I'm christian and I read the book, liked it, but have enough common sense to realize a fictional book is simply that, fiction. It's probably the same fools who had a fit over Harry Potter, they are people with no concept of the word, "fiction". Apparently, they believe everything they read, so they assume everyone else is that ignorant.

I don't know what Christians you are speaking of, but I enjoy a good fictional movie. I have not seen the DaVinci Code but I may watch it some day. Don't be so general in your descriptions. Some Atheists don't eat Ice Cream but I don't generalize and say that NONE of them eat it because GOD INVENTED IT. Get a grip on the BIBLE. Read, study, and obey our FATHER. Have a great day.
