I think it depends on where you get it. Mine is on my ankle (about and inch aboce the ankle bone) & it did not hurt, just felt like an annoying scratch. In fact, my sister & I were chatting the whole time with the artist & he was finished before I knew it.

But, I had 3 kids, each by c-section so I have had worse pain before. That may be partially why I didn't think mine hurt. :)

To tell you exactly... I think you have to pluck 4 to 5 hairs on your hand. That's the way it feels if you are using a small tattoo on. Or just put on a band aid and rip it off after some time. That's exactly how you'll feel. It increases depending on the size. Always better to rip it off... instead of taking it out slowly and keeping the pain longer.

It depends on your pain threshold and also what part of your body you get it on, the less fat the more pain. I have four tattoos. None of the pain was unbearable. Probably the worst was when they were doing the shading. And make sure that when you get your tattoo that it is something meaningful to you and also something that you can live with for the rest of your life.

Depends on where you get it, your personal tolerance to pain and if the artist has a 'heavy' or 'light' hand.

Overall, tattoos aren't that bad. They hurt, but its bearable. I thought tattoos were going to be bad, but I was just hyping myself up for nothing. Just try and relax, take deep breaths, think about something else, and ask for breaks if need be.

ya know, its not so bad- It feels like....having to sit for awhile and be annoyed. Its not PAINFUL exactly, its just ANNOYING. My boyfriend has a big sensativity to pain, most guys would say that he is a pussy- but he is really sensative to pain, anyhow, he had a tattoo right after I had mine done, and it didnt bother him. If that means anything to you. Mine is on my forearm and his is on his calf. Theyre both about 2 1/2 inches square and cost about $80, in black. For me, it helped, to WATCH as he was tattooing me, to actually see the gun on my skin helps me to handle it. But honestly, I would call it annoying, before Id ever concider calling it painful.

and to people like "WAAAAAH!!... I'll Report You" who think that people get tattoos to be "non-conformist and edgy"- you obviously DONT Have any yourself- I got mine to remind me of an event that I went through that was so meaningful and life changing that I wanted to always be reminded of it, even when I didnt purposely want to remember, so I placed it where I can see it even when im reachin for something- because it was important, to me. Im 33 and have had it for over 5 years- no regrets and Ive been thinking of getting another, for the sake of identifying my blood type- people CAN get a tattoo thinking its cool, but the ones who have are generally sporting poorly done home jobs and are impulsive people who lack control to begin with. My tattoo has meaning to me, and if I get another it will also have meaning.

depends on where the tattoo is placed. On the shoulder blade area can hurt, on the inside of the upper arm and any place where there is not alot of muscle and fat between bone.

It all depends on where you get it and your tolerance to pain. Otherwise, sometimes they just feel like buzzing, sometimes it hurts. But they don't hurt THAT bad, otherwise tattoos wouldn't be as prevalent as they are.

i think it depends on where you get the tattoo. a lot of my friends have tattoo's on their backs and they said it did not hurt, but the tattoos they got on their arms, legs and esp. ankles hurt like hell.
i think your tolerance for pain also is a factor. good luck.
