I have had RLS for quite a while now and have learned how to deal with it most of the time. Lately it is getting much worse and very painful. The strange thing going on now is it's only getting worse on my left side and it's not just in the calf but all the way up to my hip. It is going from just being jumpy and restless to having a horrible achey, crampy, burning feeling. I just wondered if anyone has this and knows if it's something I should contact my doctor about or if it's just a normal thing that comes along with RLS>

My legs are jumpy but can also hurt to where I have to move them. Have you spoke with your doctor about RLS. Requip is a very good medication that works well. Unfortuantely for me it didn't but I don't react well to medication because i also have Fibromyalgia. So I take something different. RLS is terrible I know but luckily there are things that can help now.

I occasionally get RLS. However, I have never had the severe symptoms that you describe. The worst experience with RLS that I have experienced was when the feeling began in my leg and quickly spread throughout my whole body. That was truly one of the most irritating physical experiences of my life. There was no pain involved with this for me, ever. Go see a doctor. Those symptoms you describe do sound serious and could be a sign of a serious condition. Good luck with that and take care of yourself!

There must be a cause for your RLS. It could be a pinched nerve. Did you every fall on your butt? You may have bruised or broke your tailbone. If it's getting worse I would have the Doctor have you get ans x-ray for the sacrum area and try icing your tailbone to see if that relieves the pain. I have the same symptoms in my right leg ad they are getting worse. Here is a website that may help. Good Luck!

I have bad RLS 3-4 episodes a week, but I take sinemet and it works wonders. They also have a new medicine out now, Requip - http://www.requip.com/

Haven't tried it though. My stomach is med sensitive so I'm sticking with what I know. However, I've never had burning, cramping etc even pre Sinemet. I'd get yourself to a doctor, it's probably something else entirely.

Good luck!

I don't know much about this honestly, but I do recall seeing two things about it. One is that it may help putting a dry bar of soap between your feet at night. I don't know why or what it does, but apparently lots of people report relief at night from it. Dr. Gott (columnist) in the newspaper wrote about this.

Another thing was on the T.V. about peripheral artery disease that is sometimes associated with RLS. Maybe it's something to check out and/or discuss with your doc.

Good luck.

I also have RLS, but mine only got that bad when I was pregnant. You should talk to your Doctor about it, they have new medications for it. Stretching and exercises can help a little.
