Depends on the horse.
Paints come in all sizes from about 13 hands (pony sized) up to 17 hands or so.
I know a woman who has a 17h paint gelding. He is a world champion horse.
I have a paint mare who is about 15.3h.

Hi,

The breed known as the American Paint Horse and registered with the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) is generally 15 hands tall when mature. It is very hard to give an average height, though, because exceptions (both taller and shorter) are very common. It is a breed that is generally considered to be short and stocky, but all you have to do is attend one APHA show and you will also see a lot of long-legged tall Paint horses.

For some people that may be confused about horse "hands," a hand is a unit of measurement equal to 4 inches. Long ago before measuring instruments were common people used what they had handy, and when it came to measuring horses they used their hands. Somewhere along the way a hand became a standardized measurement of 4 inches.

To determine how tall a horse is, a horse should be measured (in inches) from the ground in a straight line up to the highest point of the withers. Then the measurement (in inches) should be divided by 4. For example, if a horse is 61 inches tall, you would take the 61 and divide it by 4 to arrive at 15.25. The 15 is the number of hands, and the .25 means another 1/4 of a hand, which would be 1 inch. Therefore, and horse that is 61 inches tall would be 15 hands, 1 inch tall.

Paint is a color, not a breed, so to determine the size of the average paint horse you will have to look at the average sizes of every breed and crossbreed that contains the gene for a paint horse. So as the above stated.... 13 to 17 hands is probably as good a guess as you can get.

I personally have ridden a welsh pony that was a paint, and a TB cross that was a paint. So....yeah....
