Bell's Palsy (one sided facial muscle weakness) in females is caused by similar things as with males.
Most cases are idiopathic (unknown), others are viral (Lyme's disease, herpes virus etc etc). The viral causes can be treated with oral steroids in most cases.
Some cases can be due to the 'Facial Nerve" impingement near the side of your jaw, if that's the case ....this can be due to a growth(tumor) in that region.....mind you this is rare!

Bells Palsy which cause unilateral facial paralysis has an unknown origin, although doctors believe that it might be related to the swelling of the facial nerve due to immune or viral diseases.Generally it goes away in a few months for many people afflicted with this disease, while other may recover just a little.
