I have dark brown hair, well sort of black and I want to dye my hair either green, purple or blue. But I bought the color and some cream and then mixed it.

Then I put it on my wet hair after taking a bath and it did not stay on! Is it true that I have to bleach my beautiful hair?? If yes, how do I do it??? Please help. I heard some hair dye does not need bleaching- some color dye in Hot Topic stores...

The green would show up better and brighter if you bleach first.

Most of the hair color brands that come in the pop colors, like green, do not have any peroxide in them therefore they do not lift your hair color. They only glaze your existing hair color. So yes, you have to bleach it first. If you want your entire head green then just buy some on scalp bleach and put it all over. Make sure you use a lot of product so you don't have spots where it doesn't saturate. If you want green streaks or chunks (which would be cooler and less scary), you should pull it through a frosting cap, bleach it, rinse it, dry it and then apply green hair color. If you want the chunks, I would advise going to a hair stylist for at least the bleaching part. You could take your own green hair color in case they don't keep it in stock.

yeah you have to bleach it if you want it to eventually fall out, besides out of all the colors in the world why green thats like a gothic color and its very unusual but hey maybe you want to be different thats cool too but green doesn't go with anything red or burgundy kind of goes with everything and depending on how light or dark your skin is green might not be your color but who am i to judge anyone anyway howevewr you did ask a question and the answer is yes you will have to bleach yor hair but i suggest you dont do that without a back up plan because i know a few people who have tried it and one person hair started to breck off,one person ended up having to clip the dye off to keep their hair from splitting to the roots and one person that had healthy curly hair ended up with dry tangling hair a total different texture now i took cosmetology in college and ive read enough hair books to tell you there is nothing good about bleaching your hair because eventually that hair is going to break off, have to get cutt off or damage the good hair from the scalp so i dont think you want green that bad to permanently damage a good head of hair so dont try it because what may work for someone else may not work for you find a rinse even though it mostly shows in the sun you could just save it for the summer sunset unless were you live has summer all year around unlike us we have snow think about it and holla back think hard and long before you mess up your texture with such color is green really worth it try dying the tips or get highlights and the biggest suggestion of all do your research find out what the best beauty salon is in your town and make a trip there better safe then sorry good luck

Your hair has to be completely dry before you color it, otherwise the color won't take (I know this from experience). That may be why your color didn't take. Try again w/out bleaching, and see if you like the color you get. Because your hair is so dark, you will get a green-black.

If you dont want to bleach ur beautiful hair then why do you want to dye it green? O well i guess i dont understand why people think thats a good hair color. Anyways you should probably bleach it first

You bleach your hair to take pigment out. so yes you will have to bleach but it dont have to be white. you can do just enough to pull it to the yellowish stage. start with the back of you head. the top of you head produces more heat and will turn faster. make sure that it is all about the same color (no dark spots). Check out the sallys beauty supply, i think they have a color stripper, and its not bleach. hope that helps.

you should proably bleach it first because your hair is dark the color will not show up as bright if you don't lighten it first
