in my house canned food is like a take out so my cats only get it every now and then and they go balistic for it! it makes them reall happy, dry food is good for cats teeth, specially if you dont brush there teeth.
remember dont use human tooth paste, its poison to cats!!
enjoy your cats!!

I feed my cat just dry food, but if you need your cat to put on weight, I would feed them both wet and dry food. Another thing to consider is if your cat has a sensitive stomach: always having diarrhea after eating and things like that. Then I personally would get wet food that says "for sensitive stomachs". I hope I was some help. Good Luck!
P.S. you can always go to a vet or even a pet store and ask for their opinion.

My cats get dry food all the time. In the evening I give a small amount of canned food as a treat.

They say that feeding both is best. Dry food has lots of carbs and so if your cat is a little chunky, like one of mine is, you should feed him more wet as that has fewer carbs and more protein. I know, I thought "Atkins for Cats??", but its what the vet recommended. It's worked and now all cats get wet in the morning, and dry throughout the day. I LOVE CATS!

I feed my 2 cats both , i always put a small amount of dry on top of their tinned food , but i only use natural colored dry food as the brightly colored ones make one of the cats sick , since changing to this it has made a real difference to him.

I have one cat that will hardly ever eat canned food or the raw meat diet I make for my cats. Otherwise the menu is strictly canned and raw meat for the three male cats I now have.
Since there is so much endorsement here for dry food I think you should go to: www.littlebigcat.com and read a veterinarian's opinion in Dr. Jean Hovfe's article library. "Why Cats Need Canned Food", "Does Dry Food Clean the Teeth", "Why Fish is Dangerous for Cats", etc. Also there is another veterinarian at www.catinfo.org who feels that only the raw diet is appropriate for cats.

make sure the cats have as much dry food as they want and canned food whenever you feel like it. Most people feed one wet can a day.

I feed both. I add extra water to the canned food, feed about a tablespoon of canned twice a day and leave hard food out all day. Cats need the extra water from canned food to prevent urinary infections since they normally don't drink enough and dry food has little water in it. One can lasts us about a week. Unfortunately she doesn't eat the meat, she just drinks the watery meat liquid. She doesn't like it much, have to pursuade her to drink up and nudge her into it.

I feed my cay both wet and dry. I leave the dry out all day in a bowl and feed my three cats 1/2 a can of wet food mushed up on a plate for breakfast. They love it!! If I try to sleep in, they take turns jumping on me to wake me up and feed them their breakfast feast! It's so cute...

I prefer dry food, because it contains much more nutrients, make the fur look good, and won't make my cats's mouth smell bad, but I give my cats canned food at least twice in six months to prevent them of getting bored. If you're still in doubt, check the nutrition information on the pack. Don't take the one with a lot of carbohydrate; my old cat gets obese because I choose the wrong one, and remember to watch which of the flavour your cat likes better.
