It is profitable. If you can stir people's emotions enough, you can get them to believe that you're the spokesman for a non-existent god. After that, getting money out of them is child's play.

Miken: Hmm, slightly wrong there. The Apostle Paul said that the "LOVE" of money was the root of all evil.

Now to answer the question posed: It happens because they can get away with it. Those evangelists you refer to have forgotten that Jesus and his disciples supported themselves. They did not live off of those they taught. There were fishermen, Jesus was a carpenter, Paul I believe was a tentmaker. In addition, the one who's teachings they claim to follow said at Matthew 10:8 "... you received free, GIVE FREE."

because Jesus said go into the world and preach the good news, and since nothing is free except salvation....these ministries need money for air time and they don't just preach once a year they, some of them preach every day and go all over the world, and it's not free and it's not cheap.....so they ask, and other people sow into these ministries and thereby helping others and helping themselves....too.

A lot of them don't have the funds to get around the world so they'll ask the people to help out. Some of them take advantage of this very thing also.

Because of the people who are most easily duped into sending money, most of them are Christian. They convince them if they send money they won't burn in hell. If anyone else did it they would be arrested for extortion, but being a Christian they can get away with it.

to do their good deeds as they call it. i think it is for their own prosperity easy job, get to be on tv naturally they have a life of ease! i suppose everyone has to follow someone or something

My preacher preaches on Tv and he has never asked for money.

Because you can get more money preaching on TV than you can get just preaching in some podock backwater church in the Southwest.
