Hi, for the last 2 weeks I've been having a flare-up of asthma symptoms from a sinus infection. I've been doing nebulizer treatments like crazy and I'm on inhailed steroids, but they're not working. Last night my breathing got to the point where I felt too tired from breathing to continue! It was so physically laborous and my lungs are actually sore today (the next morning). What is that all about? I ended up going into the hospital last night (well, more like early this morning at 4 am), but there was a 6 hour wait, so I left in order to come home and go to my existing doctor's appointment this morning. Can someone please tell me what this "tired of breathing" thing is? Thanks!

Go to the hospital. NOW. And TELL THEM you can't breathe. They will triage you faster if you tell them you are a known asthmatic, have been trying multiple treatments without any luck and are tiring out. You NEED make a point of that; I can't stress it enough. Asthma can be fatal; do not forget that.

I am a physician and I've seen many patients like this in the ER and half the time they are sicker than they look--and hearing patients say that they are "tired of breathing" normally scares me. Hopefully you can get some steroids, continuous treatments and oxygen to help you out. Good luck.

Well if you are 'tired of breathing' that is really serious, you probably shouldn't have left the hospital....I have suffered from asthma myself so I know what that feels like, you should have told the nurse that you're having an asthma attack... they would have put everyone else on hold (gunshot wound, food poisoning, mother in labour etc... its that serious!) you need medical attention immediately!!!!...

You're probably on your way to having lung failure...... I don't want to scare you but that was how my grandmother died... they delayed to take her to the hospital because she said she could 'bear it'...... Please get help now!!
