My 4 yr old cat has suddenly developed an allergy to plastic (or more specifically, the chemicals used to treat metal and plastic). She is so allergic, that when she touches plastic or treated metal, she develops these very itchy spots on her skin that she chews at until all the hair is gone from that spot and she is raw and bloody. I have changed all of her water and food bowls over to glass, but have yet to find any glass or ceramic litter boxes that are available. Does anyone know where I might find a glass or ceramic litter box and how much they might cost? Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated too...thanks!!

I had a cat that had the same problem. If you have a cardboard box, cut it up into a rectangle and when you are done, you need to put a litter box liner on top of it or a bag. Put it on like you would put a gift in a bag, then the litters' weight would push it down. Just don't put litter directly on it because it'll soak right through and then it smells. Put litter in it and see what happens.

Don't use glass because of the odor and the elements in it would soak up the urine and it is impossible to get rid of it. But if you do find one, use a litter box liner.

Large glass casserole dish?
I have one about 18" x 14" x 4" deep - it would be just about big enough.

Failing that look out the glass trays used in microwave ovens & make sides with untreated wood?

Good luck as it is really difficult dealing with this type of allergy.
