Approximate figures for world population

1900 - 1.5 Bn
1960 - 3.0Bn
2000 - 6.0Bn
2050 - 12.0Bn ???

We haven't got a chance of reducing our impact on the planet with the population figures above.
We are heading for some sort of environmental disaster and that may reduce the human population to an ecologically sustainable level. If we don't do it ourselves, then nature will do it for us.

It's a very good question. If the population grows than there is more consumption, there is more stress on the land. So it comes to a point where no....it's no use going green.

One of the points of going green is to regulate population growth...we cannot accommodate an ever growing population...there just isn't the space! If you want to see the real cost of population growth and industrialisation go to : http://www.na.unep.net/OnePlanetManyPeople/AtlasDownload.php

If for no other reason, go green for the sake of the beauty of green!
I say you have plenty of reasons for going green though; never mind population growth.

A very good point young man, but fortunately Mother Nature has some foolproof ways for limiting population growth. And they have never failed, Namely;

War, hatred, famine and disease.

Humans may eventually destroy themselves, perhaps through war or just as a result of the way they pillage and plunder resources without thinking of anything but the almighty dollar, then the planet can heal itself. As long as we're around I don't see much hope for the earth. That's one of the many reasons I won't be having kids.

That is quite a good point, but you see, governments don't mention anything about over population, because that just gives them more people to tax.
